The Official Birth of IO (from 1930 to 1950)

The history of IO officially began in the 1930s. There are three places that can be considered the most significant birthplaces of the discipline: one was Cambridge (UK) with J. Robinson (in 1933), and the other two were in the US, at Harvard with Edward H. Chamberlin (in 1933) and Edward S. Mason (in 1939), and at Chicago with Henry C. Simons (in 1934).
