Socialist Ideas around 1848

The term “socialism” was first created and used by its supporters and opponents in the 1830s and 1840s. This period was marked by a proliferation of socialist ideas, a variety of definitions and attempts to set out political rights (recognized by the revolution of February 1848, the provisional government and the Second Republic) as well as social and economic rights (can a social republic see the light of day?), in particular subsequent to the repression of the insurrection of June 1848 and the putsch of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte in December 1851.
