Alan Brown
Alan Brown moved to Oxford in 1970 and was associated with IES and as editor of the Bulletin until his death in 1984 (see, for example, Aitchison and Brown 1957, and Brown and Deaton 1972). Stone (1985: 194) refers to Brown as ‘a mainstay of advanced studies in econometrics and development economics’ and Creedy (2008: 8) admired him as a thesis supervisor (Brown had examined Hendry’s PhD thesis).
